About Paul Devlin
Paul Devlin is the filmmaker of Power Trip, which tells the story of chaotic transition to capitalism in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. Power Trip was nominated for a 2004 Independent Spirit Award and won top awards in 2003 at film festivals in Berlin, Florida, and Hot Docs in Toronto. The movie is being distributed theatrically in the US by Artistic License Films and sold to television worldwide by Films Transit International. Paul is also the filmmaker of the award-winning SlamNation, about the fierce competition at the National Poetry Slam. SlamNation's release in theaters across the US and on HBO/Cinemax and Encore/Starz helped popularize the dynamic genre of slam poetry, which has recently been featured in a Tony Award-winning Broadway show and an HBO original series. Other credits include Producing Editor (or Preditor) on the Organic Film FREESTYLE: The Art of Rhyme, winner of the Special Jury Award for Documentary Filmmaking at the 2002 Florida Film Festival, and slotted for broadcast on VH1. Paul's fiction film, The Eyes of St. Anthony, is distributed by Tapestry International. As a freelance video editor, Paul has been awarded five Emmys for his work with NBC at the Olympic Games and with CBS at the Tour de France. His extensive credits as Editor include commercials, music videos, weekly television shows and sports broadcasts, including the Super Bowl, World Cup Soccer, and NCAA Basketball Championships, among others. |
